Eugene Howard Wiggins diaries
Scope and Contents
Photocopies of four volumes of diaries and a one volume thought book kept while the author served as a Mormon missionary in the Southern States Mission. Wiggins travelled without "purse or script" meaning he was without financial support and had to rely on handouts and the good will of his contacts for support.
He tells of sleeping on park benches, about having troubles with bed bugs, and about confrontations with those hostile to his work. He spent some time working among the Catawba Indians of South Carolina.
